Betty Stolz

March 11, 1940 — July 31, 2022

Bethune, CO

Betty Ann (Norby) Stolz left her earthly body to be with the Lord on July 31, 2022.

Betty was born on March 11, 1940 to Henry Alfred and Ivonetta Norby (Martin) in Watford City, ND.  She was the 13th of 15 children.  She was raised on the family farm in Charlson, ND along with numerous brothers and sisters that were still living at home at the time.

Betty married Philip James Stolz on March 22, 1958.  Betty and Phil met at a school carnival while he was in North Dakota.  After Phil returned to Colorado, they corresponded by mail for a couple years before they were married in Watford City, ND.  Betty and Phil moved back to Colorado to begin their life together.  To this union, 4 children were born; Ivonette Jean, Douglas Jay, and the twins John Paul and James Anthony.

Betty was always the 1st to rise and the last to lay down.  She enjoyed her life on the farm, especially the mornings.  There was no job too big for her.  She loved her time in the big garden she would plant.  She was never one to say I needed to rest.  She was involved in her kid’s sports activities at school, 4H projects for the county fair and church functions.  Betty drove a van for the Kit Carson County Seniors for a number of years taking seniors to different activities as well as several trips across the country.  Betty loved helping people and doing for others.  Betty had a number of crafts that kept her busy, which she gave as gifts, but also were used by her family.  Betty was a very positive and supportive person.  She raised her kids, loved her grandkids and cherished her great grandkids.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Ivonetta Norby, brothers Lyle, Richard, John, Harold, Ernest, Raymond, Francis, Clayton and sisters Gertrude, Iva, Doris, Carol, Donna, her in-laws Paul and Anna Stolz, and son-in-law Justin Ellicott.

She is survived by her husband Philip, her sister Lillian, her children and their spouse’s Ivy and Art, Doug and Lori, John, James and Dede.  She leaves behind her grandchildren and spouse’s Allison and Shane Lawless, Aranda and Zach Mader, Tanner and Erica Ellicott, Ashlin Stolz, step-grandchildren Kyle and Samantha, Dustin and Lex Daugherty; and 5 great grandchildren Emma, Raylynn, Easton Mader, Weston Ellicott, Holden Lawless and a baby Ellicott on the way.  She also leaves behind so many nieces and nephews, which she loved them all.
