Former Goodland, Kansas resident Clifford F. Paulson, 92, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Sheridan County Hospital Long Term Care Facility in Hoxie, Kansas, where he had been a resident for the last six years.

He was born on September 16, 1921, at Yuma, Kansas, the son of Mary Adelia (Jones) and Arvig Arthur Paulson.  He graduated from Woodston High School.  He proudly served his country in the Army Air Force from September 1, 1942, through December 21, 1945, during World War II.  He was stationed at an Air Force base in Debden, England, for more than three years.

On December 25, 1942, he and Marjorie Ardena Clements were married, and made their home in Kensington, Kansas.  In 1966, they moved to Goodland to make their home.

From 1947 through 1980, he worked for the Rock Island Railroad as an agent. Later, he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1985.  After retirement, he traveled and visited friends and family.  His hobbies included reading, square dancing, photography and going for walks.  He was a wonderful father to his two children.

Preceding him in death were his wife Marjorie Paulson, who died in 1991, after forty-eight years of marriage; son Donald Paulson; two brothers Lars and Leslie; and one sister Pearl Musgrove.

Surviving family includes his daughter Margaret Mazanec of Louisville, Kentucky; granddaughter Jacqualine Medford of Greeley, Colorado; great-grandson Nico Alvarado of Greeley, Colorado; brother John R. The funeral will be on Thursday, February 27, at 10:00 AM MT, at Koons Chapel in Goodland, with Clifford’s nephew John Lars Paulson officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will follow at the Goodland Cemetery.

My sympathy and prayers at this time of loss of your dear father. May he rest with Jesus in heaven. He was a wonderful kind man. I called him a couple of times and we had a nice short visit. Margaret you can be proud of him. I will not be able to attend the funeral but will be there in spirit and prayer. I am in Concordia at the Motherhouse.

I was very sad to see that Cliff had passed away. We were his and Margorie's next door neighbors in Goodland for many years. We were very happy to help him with yard work and watch his house during the winter months while he was down south or out of town. He was an outstanding friend and neighbor and I know he loved his family very much as he talked about everyone during our chats either in his front room or in the back yard. Cliff was also very proud of his service to our country. I was glad to call him a friend. We will pray for your family during this time and celebrate his inspirational life.

Sorry for your loss Margaret. My folks have both been gone since 1997. My brother passed in 2011 also. It is a void in your life that can never be filled. Thinking of of you ..... Classmate Mary Lou.
